Gaborone: President Duma Gideon Boko of the Republic of Botswana received Abdulsalam Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of the Oman Investment Authority (OIA), at the Presidential Palace in Gaborone. The meeting focused on exploring avenues to enhance and elevate economic and investment cooperation between Oman and Botswana, aiming for partnerships that benefit both nations.
According to Oman News Agency, the OIA Chairman conveyed greetings from His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to President Boko. He reiterated Oman’s dedication to strengthening bilateral relations and supporting collaborative efforts with African countries.
President Boko acknowledged Oman’s positive contributions to regional stability and development. He requested that the OIA Chairman convey his regards to His Majesty the Sultan, expressing gratitude for the commitment shown by both countries in reinforcing their economic ties.
Discussions between the two leaders covered expanding cooperative efforts in areas aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and Botswana Vision 2036. Key sectors identified for potential collaboration include financial services, mining, renewable energy, energy transition, and strategic investments promoting sustainable development. The importance of partnerships to bolster energy security and foster an environment conducive to long-term economic growth was emphasized.
