State Council Evaluates Demographic Trends and Agricultural Sector Challenges in Oman

Muscat: The State Council convened today for its tenth session of the third regular annual sitting of the eighth term, focusing on the implications of demographic trends and agricultural sector challenges in the Sultanate of Oman. The session was presided over by Sheikh Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council.

According to Oman News Agency, the session involved discussions on the study titled "Demographics and Their Impact on the Future of Development in the Sultanate of Oman," submitted by special committees. It aimed to analyze the demographic characteristics within Oman and their influence on developmental sectors, while also reviewing the efficacy of policies meant to achieve demographic balance.

The special committee's study proposed solutions to maintain demographic equilibrium, ensuring the sustainability of comprehensive development and enhancing future planning based on scientific principles.

Additionally, the session reviewed the study on "The Agricultural (Plant) Sector in the Sultanate of Oman: Challenges and Solutions." This study assessed the agricultural sector's economic contributions to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), employment, imports, and exports. The committee addressed the challenges within the sector and explored the potential application of new technological advancements in Oman.

Concluding the session, the council discussed various reports and topics, including the Secretariat General's report on recent activities of the council's bodies.
