Spain’s Rafael Godar, USA’s Taylor Fritz Advance to Washington Tennis Final

Muscat: Rising Spanish star Rafael Godar continued his meteoric ascent in the world of tennis, securing his place in the final of the men's singles competition at the Washington Open. Godar claimed a thrilling victory over Chile's Alejandro Tabilo, prevailing 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 6-4 in the semifinal round.

According to Oman News Agency, the 19-year-old Godar has reached the final of an ATP 500-level tournament for the first time in his career, marking the most significant final appearance of his young professional journey. With this win, Godar leveled his head-to-head record against Tabilo at one win apiece, having previously lost to the Chilean at the BNP Paribas Open.

With this victory, Godar set up a final clash with American Taylor Fritz, who defeated compatriot Brandon Nakashima in the other semifinal in Washington. The 28-year-old Fritz, who had saved a match point in the quarterfinals, overcame another challenge in the U.S. capital by defeating Nakashima 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in the semifinal.

The American advanced to the Washington final for the first time in his career and the fourth time this season, following previous finals in Dallas, Stuttgart, and Halle.
