Seven Killed, 40 Hospitalised in Ammonia Gas Leak in India’s Tamil Nadu

Muscat: Seven people died and more than 40 were taken to hospital after an ammonia gas leak at a private seafood export facility near Tiruvallur district in India's Tamil Nadu state today, police said. According to Oman News Agency, the leak began at a seafood processing plant and quickly spread to the surrounding residential area. Some people reported breathing difficulties, while others suffered bleeding from the nose and mouth. Police said 44 patients had been admitted to a nearby hospital, with seven confirmed dead and nine others in critical condition.
