Nizwa:The second edition of the Oman Chanting Festival is set to take place in the Wilayat of Nizwa, A'Dakhiliyah Governorate, from October 18 to 21, 2026.
According to Oman News Agency, the festival's opening ceremony will be held under the patronage of Sheikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council. This year, eight vocalists have been selected to participate in the festival after being chosen from an initial pool of 39 participants by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
The first edition of the festival was held over a decade ago, from October 20 to 21, 2015, also in Nizwa. The event aims to nurture Omani talent in chanting and provide a platform for performers to display their skills to the public.
In 2026, the festival will build upon insights gained from its inaugural edition, promoting the evolution of performance styles, production techniques, and audience engagement in the field of chanting.
