Sohar: The Municipal Council of North Al Batinah Governorate today convened its tenth meeting of the year, under the leadership of Mohammed Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah, with the participation of council members.
According to Oman News Agency, the meeting commenced with a review of initiatives and programs carried out by the Educational Research and Studies Committee. Specialists from the Directorate General of Education in the governorate delivered a presentation on these activities. The Council also engaged with specialists and organizers from the "Wafaa" initiative, who outlined their vision and mission to deliver comprehensive social, health, and entertainment services to the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and retirees.
The Social Affairs Committee presented a report on their field visits to the Wafaa Centers, the Al Noor Association for the Blind, and the Oman Association for Persons with Disabilities. Furthermore, the Council analyzed the outcomes of the Social Affairs Committee's fifth meeting.
Attention was also directed toward the Governorate Development Committee meetings, which addressed several key issues. These included plans for establishing permanent venues for displaying and selling products from productive families across the governorate's wilayats, the conceptual design for smart charging stations in Saham, and the development of side channels along roads to accommodate infrastructure utilities. The committee also tackled challenges facing local sports and cultural teams within the governorate.
The meeting concluded with discussions on several responses from government entities concerning local matters.
