Muscat: The National Family Affairs Committee held its first meeting of the year today under the leadership of Dr. Laila Ahmed Al-Najjar, Minister of Social Development and Chairperson of the Committee, with several members present at the Ministry’s headquarters.
According to Oman News Agency, the meeting focused on reviewing the latest updates regarding the Juvenile Accountability Law. The committee also deliberated on the proposed Family Protection Law and considered amendments to the Child Law.
Additionally, the Committee discussed the Ministry of Health’s initiative to enforce mandatory premarital screening. This measure aims to mitigate potential health risks that could impact couples or their future children.
The National Family Affairs Committee plays a pivotal role in proposing policies and programs that support Omani families across various social, health, and cultural domains. The committee ensures these policies are implemented in coordination with relevant authorities.
