Forum for Community Initiatives Begins in South A’Sharqiyah

Muscat: The activities of the 'You are the Impact' forum for community initiatives began today in the South A'Sharqiyah Governorate. Organized by Oman LNG in cooperation with the Office of the Governor of South A'Sharqiyah, the forum features more than 60 participants representing the local community, community initiatives, and several relevant authorities.

According to Oman News Agency, the forum aims to create a platform to empower community solutions and bring initiative owners together with officials from the public and private sectors in a systematic dialogue. This effort seeks to organize community contributions and link them directly to the development priorities of the governorate. Furthermore, the forum focuses on building capacity, organizing existing initiatives, and enhancing effective partnerships to ensure a sustainable community impact, moving away from traditional patterns of direct financial support.

The first day of the forum included interactive sessions and specialized workshops focusing on six main areas: investment and economic diversification including support for small and medium enterprises; career empowerment, employment, and capacity building; and digital transformation, technology, and innovation. Additional focus areas included community development and quality of life; tourism, heritage, and cultural identity; and environment, sustainability, and natural resources.

Working through specialized groups, participants analyzed field challenges within the governorate's provinces and formulated them into practical frameworks for development and implementation. These groups utilized modern interactive tools to stimulate discussion and gather diverse perspectives. The activities of the second day will include presenting the outputs of these workshops and discussing potential follow-up and support paths for the resulting initiatives to ensure their alignment with the governorate's comprehensive development priorities.
