Dhofar: Dhofar Governorate recorded an upward economic performance during the first quarter of this year, supported by a remarkable momentum in commercial and industrial licensing activities, and a clear growth in the construction and services sectors, reflecting the vitality of the investment environment and the continuous flow of economic activities across the various wilayats of the governorate.
According to Oman News Agency, statistical indicators issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion showed that the governorate recorded around 1,059 new commercial registrations across its various wilayats during the first quarter of this year. The Wilayat of Salalah led in terms of the number of registrations with 924, followed by the Wilayat of Taqa with 29 registrations, and the Wilayat of Mirbat with 26 registrations, alongside a growth in the Wilayat of Dhalkut by 275 percent, while the remaining registrations were distributed among the other wilayats of the governorate.
The statistics indicated that the total cumulative commercial registrations in Dhofar Governorate rose to 70,195 by the end of the first quarter of this year, an indicator reflecting the expansion of the commercial base.
The statistics showed that the governorate recorded advanced levels in the speed and efficiency of completing transactions, as 7,448 commercial licenses were completed during the same period, raising the total cumulative licenses to 73,052.
Automatic licenses in the governorate also witnessed growth within the framework of efforts to facilitate the business environment, reaching 8,656 automatic licenses during the first quarter of this year, bringing their cumulative total to 113,368 licenses, while building and construction contracting activity stood out as one of the main drivers of economic growth.
In the industrial sector, the number of completed industrial licenses in the governorate reached 645 during the first quarter of 2026, raising the cumulative total to 9,201 licenses at the governorate level. The Wilayat of Salalah accounted for the largest share with 514 licenses, followed by the Wilayat of Taqa with 37 licenses, then the Wilayat of Mirbat with 27 licenses, and the Wilayat of Shalim and Al Hallaniyat Islands with 24 licenses, reflecting the expansion and spread of industrial activity and its integration among the various wilayats of the governorate.
