China Achieves Milestone with Long March 3B Rocket’s 100th Launch.

Paris: China successfully launched a new experimental communication satellite today from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan province. The satellite was sent into orbit at 1:56 PM (Beijing Time) aboard a Long March 3B carrier rocket. It is set to enhance satellite communication, radio and television broadcasting, data transmission, and conduct related technology tests.

According to Oman News Agency, this mission marks the 549th flight of the Long March rocket series. Furthermore, it signifies the 100th space launch accomplished by the Long March 3B carrier rocket, setting a new record for the country’s single-type rocket. This achievement was highlighted by the rocket’s developer, China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT), which operates under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

The journey to this milestone began with the Long March 3B’s first flight in 1996, reaching its 100th launch after 28 years. The rocket has been integral to numerous significant space projects
in China, including the BeiDou Satellite Navigation System, the Chang’e lunar program, and Fengyun meteorological satellites, as noted by CALT.

The Long March 3B carrier rocket is known for its adaptability and substantial carrying capacity, which accommodates the mass of most satellites globally. This versatility makes it ideal for both international commercial launches and major national space missions, as emphasized by its developer.
