This year, operations at the date market in Madinah are being automated, with an electronic system tracking all quantities of dates arriving from farms to the market and the volume of sales conducted at the daily date auction.
By sorting and classifying the dates before they enter the market, and inputting their data before they are presented at auction, trading has been better organized. The process also entails issuing a barcode, recording buyer information and documenting the sale, to protect both seller and buyer. It helps regulate and organize date trading for farmers, buyers, and providers of agricultural product marketing services, thus fostering stronger connections among farmers, traders, and export companies. It also helps build partnerships and relationships that support the date industry.
The electronic system for date trading includes issuing permits, scheduling appointments, and displaying products on mobile platforms.
Moreover, support services are ready for beneficiaries at the date market
business center, and financial and logistical services are provided by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.
