Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion convened a workshop today aimed at exploring potential strategies for advancing the exhibition industry in Oman, aligning with the goals of Oman Vision 2040. The session featured a series of presentations and discussions that addressed both opportunities and challenges within the sector.
According to Oman News Agency, the workshop’s agenda included visual presentations that outlined the key aspects of the exhibition sector from the perspective of the private sector. These presentations highlighted the challenges the sector faces and proposed potential solutions. A significant focus was placed on the role of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s committee dedicated to exhibitions, conferences, and events, as well as the committee’s initiatives to foster development within the industry.
Participants were also introduced to a visual presentation detailing Qatar’s experience in hosting major events, providing a comparative framework for Oman. In addition, working papers were presented on the impact of Oman’s ‘unified promotional identity’ in bolstering the exhibition and conference industry. This identity aims to enhance Oman’s public image and elevate the nation’s competitiveness on both regional and international stages.
The workshop further delved into mechanisms for implementing the ‘Identity’ initiative specifically within the exhibition sector. A panel discussion explored methods for refining procedures, legislation, and other measures to enhance the sector’s competitive edge.
Concluding the workshop, participants formulated a series of recommendations intended to create a practical roadmap for the development of Oman’s exhibition industry. These recommendations emphasized solidifying Oman’s status as a premier regional hub for hosting conferences and events. The session was attended by Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, along with representatives from both the public and private sectors.
