Water Network Project Linking Duqm and Haima Inaugurated

Al Wusta: Several water projects were inaugurated today in Al Wusta Governorate, most notably the strategic Duqm-Haima Water Supply System, spanning 211 kilometers at a cost exceeding RO 24 million. The ceremony was held under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed Musallam Al Kathiri, Governor of Al Wusta.

According to Oman News Agency, the project was implemented by Nama Water Services and aims to enhance water security and sustainability in the governorate amid population growth. The project includes four key stations: Duqm Station, featuring a pumping station with full mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment; Al-Ajaiz Station, which includes a 1,000 m³ ground tank and a 200 m³ overhead tank; Abu Madabi Station, with a 1,000 m³ ground tank and a truck filling station; and Haima Station, featuring a 5,000 m³ ground tank and a 600 m³ overhead tank.

Several solar and wind-powered desalination plants were also launched across the governorate, supporting Oman Vision 2040 for carbon neutrality by adopting renewable energy technologies. Key projects include the Dhiya 1 Project, a solar-powered well; the Rounb Truck Filling Station with a 30 kW capacity; and the Khamkham Desalination Plant with a production capacity of 42 kW/hour. Additional projects such as the Nafi Water Desalination Plant and the Hajj Plant Expansion further contribute to water sustainability.

Moreover, two wastewater treatment plants were completed. The Mahout Plant uses constructed wetlands technology to produce high-quality treated water, while the Jazzer Plant incorporates aeration ponds and reed beds for efficient treatment. These initiatives underscore Oman’s commitment to sustainable water management and renewable energy integration, aligning with national development goals.
