Venezuela: The death toll from the two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela has risen to 4,490, with fatalities continuing to mount more than two weeks after the twin tremors. Jorge Rodrguez, President of Venezuela's National Assembly, announced that 108 shelters have been established to accommodate over 19,000 people who lost their homes as a result of the quakes.
According to Oman News Agency, the devastating earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, rattled Venezuela on 24 June, followed by more than a thousand significantly weaker aftershocks. More than 850 buildings have been either destroyed or severely damaged, particularly in La Guaira, a coastal city near the capital, Caracas.
