Tashkent: President Dr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan received Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, in Tashkent today.
According to Oman News Agency, Al Yousef conveyed the greetings and best wishes of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Uzbek President. He emphasized the strong fraternal relations between the peoples of Oman and Uzbekistan. During the meeting, Al Yousef congratulated President Mirziyoyev on the Uzbekistan national football team’s historic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking a significant achievement for the Central Asian region.
Al Yousef highlighted the Uzbek government’s recent decision to grant Omani citizens a 30-day visa exemption as a step forward in promoting tourism and enhancing cultural and commercial ties between the two nations. Additionally, he mentioned Oman Air’s plans to operate direct flights to Tashkent, aiming to facilitate direct communication and connectivity between Oman and Uzbekistan.
At the meeting’s conclusion, Al Yousef reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and developing partnerships with Uzbekistan based on mutual respect and shared prosperity. The meeting took place alongside the 5th session of the Omani-Uzbek Joint Committee for Trade and Economic Cooperation, as well as roundtable meetings with the Uzbek side and the 4th Tashkent International Investment Forum. This visit seeks to bolster bilateral cooperation and explore joint investment opportunities across various vital sectors.
The meeting was attended by Assayida Wafa Jabr Al Busaidi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Uzbekistan, along with several officials from both countries.
