UTAS Cybersecurity Awareness Forum in Salalah Focuses on Digital Protection Skills

Salalah: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) today organized a forum on cybersecurity in Salalah. The forum focused on enhancing public awareness about cybersecurity and developing digital protection skills.

According to Oman News Agency, Dr. Lamya Said Al Shanfari, Head of Information Technology at UTAS in Salalah, stated that developing technology in the digital world is considered one of the most important accelerators of business growth. She emphasized that the world has become reliant on the flow of information, leading to the emergence of various specializations related to information and related technologies.

She further explained that cybersecurity, as a discipline, is closely associated with systems of data exchange, storing, and processing. This discipline is drawing increasing interest from individuals, organizations, and governments.

The forum featured workshops and lectures covering all aspects of cybersecurity. Experts specialized in developing cybersecurity and detecting methods of extortion delivered lectures in the forum’s programme. The programme also included a workshop titled “Digital Home Shield”, a drama titled “Point Zero”, and an exhibition showcasing student projects on cybersecurity systems and data protection.
