UTAS Board Convenes to Discuss Strategic Goals and Future Plans

Muscat: The Academic Board of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) today held its third meeting in the current academic year 2025-2026. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Said bin Hamad Al Rubai'ee, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences and Chairman of the UTAS Academic Board.

According to Oman News Agency, the Board addressed several key topics, including the university's readiness for inclusion in the QS World University Rankings. They also endorsed the university's graduates for the fall semester of the 2025/2026 academic year and approved the Admission Plan for the upcoming 2026-2027 Academic Year.

The Board reviewed a proposal aimed at implementing a comprehensive institutional framework that incorporates sustainable development principles into education, research, innovation, and community engagement. This initiative aligns with Oman Vision 2040 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Additionally, the UTAS Board examined measures to integrate the University's policies and procedures, aiming for a more comprehensive, clear, and flexible approach in line with the University's new strategic plan. The Board also reviewed the University's future policies, preparing them for final approval, and considered the unique status of some students.
