US Dollar Strengthens Amidst Global Currency Fluctuations

New York: The US dollar demonstrated strength against a range of global currencies in today’s trading session.

According to Oman News Agency, the dollar index, which evaluates the currency against six leading counterparts, increased by 0.11% to reach 99. This rise positions it for a weekly gain of approximately 0.9%, marking its most robust weekly performance since late January 2025.

The Australian dollar experienced a decline of 0.3%, trading at $0.6489, while the New Zealand dollar dropped 0.5% to $0.5998. Emerging market currencies also faced challenges, with the South Korean won weakening by 1%.

In Europe, the euro reached a one-week low, showing a 0.25% decrease to $1.1455. Meanwhile, the Japanese yen traded at 145.13 per dollar. The British pound, or sterling, saw a decline of 0.14%, trading at $1.3403, and the Swiss franc was last valued at 0.81995 per dollar.
