Third International Frankincense and Medicinal Plants Forum Opens in Salalah

Salalah: The Third International Frankincense and Medicinal Plants Forum opened today in Salalah. The three-day event is organized by Dhofar University in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, with the participation of researchers, experts, and specialists from 17 countries.

According to Oman News Agency, the opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation. An accompanying exhibition was also opened at the forum, featuring booths for several government entities, including the “Green Pharmacy” initiative.

The forum highlights the status of Dhofar Governorate as a historical hub for the production and trade of frankincense and medicinal plants. It aims to utilize scientific research to serve sustainable development and strengthen Oman’s position in knowledge and innovation.
