Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman has issued three Royal Decrees, facilitating legal, trade, and diplomatic engagements with Iran and the Philippines. The decrees include agreements on legal cooperation, preferential trade, and mutual visa waivers, marking a significant step in Oman’s international relations.
According to Oman News Agency, Royal Decree No. (70/2025) ratifies an agreement for legal and judicial cooperation in civil and criminal matters, including extradition and the transfer of sentenced individuals, between Oman and Iran. This agreement was signed on May 27, 2025, in Muscat and aims to strengthen judicial collaboration between the two nations.
Royal Decree No. (71/2025) confirms the ratification of a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) signed between Oman and Iran on the same date. This decree seeks to enhance economic ties by reducing trade barriers and fostering economic cooperation.
Additionally, Royal Decree No. (72/2025) pertains to an agreement with the Philippines for mutual visa waivers for holders of diplomatic, special, service, and official passports. Signed on July 14, 2025, in Manila, this agreement is expected to facilitate diplomatic and official travel between the two countries.
All three decrees stipulate that they shall be published in the Official Gazette and will be enforced from the date of issue, underscoring their immediate implementation.
