Muscat: Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) and Kazan Federal University (KFU) of the Russian Federation today discussed areas of scientific and cultural cooperation. This occurred when HH Sayyid Dr. Fahad bin Al Julanda Al Said, Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University, received Professor Dr. Lenar Safin, Rector of Kazan Federal University, and his accompanying delegation.
According to Oman News Agency, the two sides reviewed joint programs and initiatives, including the Arabic Language and Omani Culture Program implemented over two years, and this year’s Cultural Program, which hosted SQU students last June. The meeting also addressed the Student Exchange Initiative, which has provided KFU students with the opportunity to study at SQU since 2024, in addition to postgraduate programs between the two universities.
The two sides also reviewed the achievements of research cooperation, the results of which included 43 joint publications in the field of environmental sciences, and 16 publications in agricultural and marine sciences. Additionally, the Joint Research Projects Funding Program and the exchange of academic delegations were discussed, all of which contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation efforts.
The meeting covered future work plans, including joint research project funding in the field of oil and gas, hosting medical students from KFU at SQU, and starting the acceptance of KFU students for studies at SQU starting next year.
The meeting also touched upon the conference SQU will host next April, and the civilizational and developmental dimensions of Omani-Russian relations, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation.
