Seminar in North Al Batinah Discusses Future of Sustainable Food Security

Oman: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in the North Al Batinah Governorate, represented by the Food Security Committee, organized a seminar today titled 'From Farm to Factory' under the slogan 'A Sustainable Food Future.' The event was held under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Agriculture.

According to Oman News Agency, Dr. Ali Mohammed Al Hamidi, Chairman of the Food Security Committee at the Chamber's branch in North Al Batinah, emphasized that the seminar is driven by the committee's determination to enhance integration between the agricultural and industrial sectors. The seminar seeks to build sustainable partnerships between farmers and national factories to support the food security system. Dr. Al Hamidi highlighted the importance of enhancing direct communication between producers and manufacturers, promoting reliance on local products, and developing efficient supply chains to achieve sustainability.

He further explained that the seminar aims to establish a platform for direct communication between farm owners and supply departments in food factories. It aims to reduce reliance on imported raw materials by encouraging the use of high-quality local products. Additionally, it seeks to provide a sustainable market for farmers, ensuring their crops are marketed at fair prices while securing a stable flow of raw materials for factories. The seminar also serves to introduce necessary specifications and standards in quality, packaging, and supply.
