Salalah free zone: Salalah Free Zone, in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, organized today an awareness seminar on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India, with the participation of a number of investors and representatives of companies operating in Salalah Free Zone.
According to Oman News Agency, the seminar began with an introduction to the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Oman and India, its importance in enhancing trade and investment relations between the two countries, and its role in opening new horizons for investors to benefit from the competitive advantages provided by the agreement.
The seminar featured a review of three main themes covering the most prominent clauses of the agreement and its regulatory framework, the preferential advantages it offers, including customs tariffs, trade facilitation, and duty-free goods, in addition to the resulting investment and commercial opportunities.
It also addressed the mechanisms for investors in Salalah Free Zone to benefit from the agreement, contributing to enhancing their competitiveness, enabling them to access markets, and making use of available commercial opportunities.
The seminar witnessed interaction from the participating investors, as a range of technical inquiries were raised regarding the mechanisms for benefiting from the agreement. These included procedures and requirements for issuing certificates of origin for Omani exports bound for India, the extent of utilizing the customs advantages provided by the agreement, as well as discussing ways to obtain customs exemptions or reductions.
