Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef, concluded an official visit to Brazil today. During his visit, he discussed with the Brazilian government and private sector leaders the enhancement of Saudi non-oil exports to Brazilian markets, the transfer of knowledge and innovation, and the localization of the latest manufacturing technologies in promising sectors such as food, vaccines, medicines, and aviation.
He also invited Brazilian companies to invest in attractive opportunities in industry and mining in the Kingdom and benefit from the capabilities and incentives provided to investors.
Alkhorayef met with Brazil’s Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Foreign Trade, and Services, Dr. Geraldo Alckmin, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral economic and industrial relations and the opportunities attractive to Brazilian investors and companies in the industrial and mining sectors in the Kingdom. Additionally, Alkhorayef met with Brazilian Minister of Mines and
Energy, Alexandre Silveira, to discuss opportunities for cooperation between the Kingdom and Brazil in mining and its industries. Furthermore, he held a bilateral meeting with Brazilian Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Luciana Santos, to discuss enhancing cooperation in the digital economy and emerging technologies and exchanging digital knowledge.
Alkhorayef participated in a roundtable meeting organized by the Federation of Industries of the Brazilian State of São Paulo. During his speech at the meeting, he emphasized the strength of the Kingdom’s mining sector as an essential player globally. He invited Brazilian mining companies to participate in the fourth edition of the International Mining and Resources Conference, which will be held in Riyadh next January, to learn about the future of the Saudi mining sector and the investment opportunities available.
Alkhorayef highlighted the Kingdom’s goal to localize the pharmaceutical industry and attract global investments to the healthcare sec
tor through various enablers and incentives provided to investors. He mentioned that localizing 80-90% of insulin is one of the important goals in this sector.
Alkhorayef met with President of the National Confederation of Industry in Brazil (CNI), Antonio Ricardo Alvarez Alban, and discussed with him the incentives and enablers offered by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to industrial and mining investors. He also discussed strengthening cooperation between the Kingdom and Brazil in the industrial sector, and identifying the main industrial sectors with high export and import potential, such as petrochemicals, food processing, machinery and equipment, and industrial strengths in the two countries.
Alkhorayef also held talks with President of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex), Jorge Viana, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the mining sector and quality investment opportunities in the field of exploration for basic metals and precious metals in the Kingdom.
The Saudi minister met
with Executive Vice President of Strategy and Innovation at Embraer, Dimas Douglas Tomlin. They discussed enhancing cooperation in the aerospace industry and localizing it in the Kingdom, and benefiting from the company’s expertise in this field. Alkhorayef also met with Vale’s CEO, Eduardo Bartolomeo, and reviewed the promising investment opportunities offered by the Saudi mining sector to Brazilian companies.
The Saudi minister visited Vale’s Carajás Mine in the Brazilian Amazon and was briefed on the latest technologies used in mine management, Vale’s balanced experience in exploring and exploiting mining wealth while preserving the environment, and opportunities for knowledge transfer and innovation in the mining sector.
Alkhorayef also visited the factory of the Brazilian food company Minerva Foods and met with the CEO of JBS. Both companies are among the most prominent food manufacturers around the world in the red meat and poultry sector. He discussed with factory officials opportunities to localize
the food industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the comparative advantages of the investment environment in the Saudi industrial sector.
The visit comes as part of an economic tour for Alkhorayef and the delegation of the industry and mining sector to Brazil and Chile, which began on July 22 and will continue until the 30th of the same month.
