Beirut: Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, received today Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at Dar al-Fatwa, where both held a private meeting touching on the latest developments in Lebanon before joining the session of the Supreme Islamic Sharia Council.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the media office at Dar al-Fatwa reported that PM Salam stressed during the meeting that “rebuilding the state must remain a hallmark of the difficult and delicate phase that Lebanon is going through, no matter how intense the obstacles.”
He said: “We will continue our efforts to achieve the required reform and extend the state’s authority over all its lands with its own forces to advance the state and its institutions.”
“Despite the difficulties and challenges, our strongest weapon will remain our national unity, will, determination and optimism to reach safety in our homeland, which has been wounded by the ongoing Israeli aggression,” Salam maintained.
“What the government is doing is to consolidate the concept of a strong and just state, one that serves the interests of Lebanon,” he affirmed, pledging that his government will exert all possible efforts to safeguard and preserve every part of Lebanese territory.
For his part, Derian praised PM Salam’s wisdom, patience, and efforts in conducting local, Arab, and international contacts to overcome the obstacles facing the government. He expressed his keenness on supporting the government in its national work despite the challenges it faces amidst successive crises.
