Salalah Hosts Workshop on Vocational Education for Travel and Tourism

Salalah: An introductory workshop focusing on the Vocational and Technical Education Program for the Travel and Tourism track was held today at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Compound for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah. The event, organized by the Directorate General of Education in Dhofar Governorate, gathered specialists, academics, and students to explore the program’s potential impact on the region’s educational landscape.

According to Oman News Agency, the workshop was inaugurated under the patronage of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar. The program included two visual presentations that outlined the implementation of the Travel and Tourism track and the preparations by Dhofar Education to activate the program. Another presentation highlighted inspiring Omani success stories in the sector, showcasing how determination and innovation can lead to a distinguished career path.

A dialogue session titled “Vocational and Technical Education: Travel and Tourism Specialization” was a highlight of the event. The session engaged several prominent figures, including Dr. Hamad Mohammed Al Mahrooqi, Dean of Oman Tourism College, and Dr. Hassan Abdullah Eidid, an academic specializing in tourism and event management at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Salalah. Other participants included Dr. Atoom Mohammed Al Khatheri and Dr. Abdulkarim Ahmed Al Mashaikhi, both of whom hold significant roles in vocational guidance and student services within the educational sector.

The workshop aimed to introduce the Travel and Tourism track as part of the broader vocational and technical education framework in Dhofar Governorate. It highlighted the track’s importance as a pivotal component for economic diversification in alignment with Oman Vision 2040. The event also emphasized the crucial role of educational and academic institutions in preparing and qualifying national competencies while showcasing successful Omani experiences to inspire students and parents about the promising future in this field.
