Muscat: Rear Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces (SAF), welcomed Lt. General Ahmed Fathy Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, and his delegation at Al Murtafa'a Camp, marking the beginning of their official visit to Oman.
According to Oman News Agency, the Egyptian delegation was received with a formal ceremony, including a military salute and an honorary performance by the military band. Lt. General Khalifa inspected the guard of honour, setting the tone for a series of discussions on military collaboration.
The visit culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing military cooperation between the two nations. Rear Admiral Al Raisi and Lt. General Khalifa signed the MoU, which spans multiple military domains.
The meeting was attended by Brigadier Saif Hamad Al Yousifi, SAF Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations and Planning. In another engagement, Maj. Gen Hamed Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy of Strategic and Defense Studies, hosted Lt. General Khalifa and his team at Bait Al Falaj Camp to discuss academic partnerships. Key personnel from the academy, including Air Commodore Mohammed Aziz Al Siyabi and Air Commodore Ali Rashid Al Abri, also attended.
Lt. General Khalifa further visited the National Defense College (NDC) at Bait Al Falaj Camp, where he was received by Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi, Commandant of the NDC. He was briefed on the college's academic offerings and strategic curriculum designed to develop high-level national competencies, followed by a tour of the facilities.
