Oman’s Electricity Production Rises by 9% by End of July 2025

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has experienced a 9% increase in total electricity production by the end of July 2025. The production reached 30,239.3 gigawatt-hours (GWh), a notable rise from 27,746.9 GWh during the same period in 2024.

According to Oman News Agency, preliminary statistics from the National Center for Statistics and Information indicate that Oman’s net electricity production, which factors in purchases by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company, increased by 8.7%, totaling 29,308.6 GWh by the end of July. This is a rise from 26,972.2 GWh compared to the same timeframe in the previous year.

In contrast, there was a slight decline in Oman’s total water production, which decreased by 0.8% by the end of July 2025. The production was approximately 298.9 million cubic meters, compared to 301.2 million cubic meters during the same period in 2024.

At the governorate level, Muscat experienced an 8.1% decrease in water production, amounting to 122.4 million cubic meters, down from 133.2 million cubic meters last year. Meanwhile, water production in Dhofar rose by 3%, reaching 43.9 million cubic meters. Water production in other governorates also increased by 5.8%, reaching 298.9 million cubic meters, in comparison to 301.2 million cubic meters by the end of July 2025.
