Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has expressed its approval following the announcement by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer regarding the United Kingdom’s intention to recognize the Palestinian state during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement welcoming this development. The statement emphasized Oman’s ongoing call for the international community, particularly those nations yet to recognize the Palestinian state, to take similar actions. It highlighted the need to ensure the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to establish an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This recognition is seen as a step towards a two-state solution and achieving sustainable peace in the region.
