Oman to Participate in World Standards Day Observance

Muscat:The Sultanate of Oman is set to join the global community in observing World Standards Day, celebrated annually on October 14. This year's theme, "A Shared Vision for a Better World," highlights the crucial role that standards play in fostering safety and sustainability across communities.

According to Oman News Agency, the event aims to enhance international cooperation in addressing economic, environmental, and technical challenges. Standards are fundamental in uniting various sectors by establishing benchmarks that improve product and service quality, operational efficiency, safety, consumer protection, and support trade and market access.

The Directorate General of Standards and Metrology at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has announced the issuance of 24 Omani standards in 2026. These standards pertain to energy and electrical appliances, including the "Grid interconnection of photovoltaic power generation systems" standard, which outlines procedures for testing power conversion equipment.
