Oman Participates in GCC Ministerial Meeting in Kuwait

Kuwait city: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 27th meeting of ministers and heads of authorities responsible for environmental affairs in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, hosted by the State of Kuwait. This participation comes within the framework of ongoing cooperation to enhance joint Gulf environmental action.

According to Oman News Agency, the Sultanate of Oman’s delegation was headed by Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority and President of the Seventh Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly. The meeting discussed a number of joint Gulf projects, most notably the Gulf Environmental Portal as an initiative to enhance transparency and information exchange; the preparation of a unified Gulf Environmental Indicator to measure environmental performance; the Convention on the Conservation of Wildlife and their Natural Habitats in the GCC States; and the GCC Award for Environment and Wildlife.

The meeting also touched on strengthening a unified Gulf stance regarding topics and decisions, and backing the adoption of the ministerial statement to be delivered by the President of the Seventh Session of the Assembly concerning participation in the Seventh Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7), scheduled to be held during 8-12 December 2025.
