Oman Participates in Conference of International Association of Prosecutors in Singapore

Singapore: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Public Prosecution, took part in the 30th annual conference of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP), held in the Republic of Singapore. Oman joined Canada in signing a declaration of commitment to the IAP’s standards for professional responsibility and its statement on the essential duties and rights of prosecutors.

According to Oman News Agency, bilateral meetings were organized between Oman’s Public Prosecutor and their counterparts from the Swiss Confederation, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Republic of Singapore. These discussions were targeted at enhancing cooperation, exchanging expertise, and sharing best practices to boost performance and capabilities within the field of criminal justice.

The conference agenda included addressing the challenges presented by contemporary forms of crime that utilize technology, particularly transnational offenses such as cybercrime, human trafficking, and illegal immigration. Discussions also covered the use of technology and artificial intelligence in criminal investigations, along with the collection and presentation of digital evidence in court.

Participants at the conference underscored the necessity of international cooperation, expertise exchange, and sharing best practices to effectively combat organized crime and develop more efficient mechanisms to counter these threats.
