Oman Officially Joins World Free Zones Organization

Muscat: The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ) has officially joined the World Free Zones Organization (World FZO), an entity dedicated to supporting and developing free and economic zones globally. This membership marks a significant step in Oman’s efforts to enhance its special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities, promoting them as leading investment destinations with advanced infrastructure.

According to Oman News Agency, this strategic move aligns with OPAZ’s objective to strengthen the global presence of Oman’s economic zones. The membership will enable the Authority to engage in knowledge exchange and adopt best practices with international partners. Additionally, it aims to enhance operational efficiency and develop promotional and marketing tools to attract high-quality investments and projects with significant added value.

Through its collaboration with the World FZO, OPAZ plans to expand its economic network and leverage global trends in managing and de
veloping special economic zones, free zones, and industrial cities. Oman currently operates 23 such zones, with investments projected to reach approximately RO 21 billion by the end of 2024.

The World Free Zones Organization encompasses over 1,600 zones and economic institutions from more than 140 countries, providing a broad platform for cooperation and development in the free zones sector.
