Salalah: The 13th session of the Regional Fisheries Commission (RECOFI) commenced today in Salalah, Dhofar Governorate. The 4-day event is being hosted by the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.
According to Oman News Agency, the opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Eng. Yaqoub bin Khalfan Al Busaidi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for Fisheries. The session aims to address several significant topics, including the launch of the RECOFI new website, a review of outcomes from recent regional conferences, and discussions on reports from technical working groups about the management of aquaculture. Key challenges facing the sector in the region’s countries will also be a focal point.
The participants will explore ways to enhance cooperation with regional organizations involved in marine environment protection. This includes discussions on RECOFI’s potential contributions to joint projects that aim to support the sustainability of fisheries resources in the region.
