Oman Engages in UNESCO Digital Learning Week in Paris

Paris: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the Digital Learning Week 2025, organized by UNESCO at its headquarters in Paris, from 2-5 September 2025. The theme for the event is: “AI and the future of education: Disruptions, dilemmas and directions”.

According to Oman News Agency, Majid Said Al Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Administrative and Financial Affairs and head of the Omani delegation, affirmed that participating in such international platforms allows for the exchange of expertise and visions on the future of education. He emphasized Oman’s commitment to keeping pace with technological developments and leveraging them to serve sustainable development goals and enhance the efficiency of the national education system.

Digital Learning Week will discuss how to utilize these technologies in a fair and ethical manner. The goal is to ensure the improvement of education quality and the achievement of digital equity, without compromising human values or human effectiveness in educational decision-making. This comes amidst the rapid transformations in the education sector due to the increasing integration of artificial intelligence technologies.

The dialogue sessions and academic discussions during the week will address challenges facing education systems, such as digital surveillance, systemic biases, and the decline of human accountability linked to AI ethics. They will also review future trends that could reshape education to be more inclusive and sustainable.

The Ministry of Education’s participation in this event is part of its continuous efforts to enhance international cooperation in digital transformation and AI. This aligns with the Executive Program for Artificial Intelligence in School Education and aims to explore global best practices for integrating AI into school education, in line with the aspirations of achieving the educational goals of Oman Vision 2040.
