Oman Engages in GCC Cybersecurity Talks, Approves New Strategic Plan

Kuwait city: Oman participated in the 4th meeting of the GCC ministerial committee of cybersecurity authorities and centres, focusing on enhancing regional cooperation in cybersecurity. The meeting, held in Kuwait, brought together representatives from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states to discuss collaborative measures against growing cyber threats.

According to Oman News Agency, the Omani delegation was led by Dr. Saleh Amir Al Kharousi, the nation’s ambassador to Kuwait. Discussions centered around the GCC cybersecurity system and the implementation of executive action plans. The committee emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation among GCC states through joint initiatives aimed at boosting digital protection and addressing increasing cyber threats.

The meeting resulted in the approval of the executive plan for the GCC Cybersecurity Strategy (2024-2028), which outlines a framework for international cooperation among GCC countries in cybersecurity. Additionally, a governance mechanism for information sharing via the “Cyber Threat Information Sharing” platform was endorsed.

In conjunction with these developments, the GCC Cybersecurity Podcast was launched, and the minutes from the 4th meeting of the Cybersecurity Executive Committee were ratified, marking a significant step forward in regional cybersecurity collaboration.
