Izmir: Represented by the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Sultanate of Oman was recently elected as chair of the UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, for the period 2027-2028. The announcement was made during a meeting of the board of directors of the UFI in Izmir, Turkey, marking Oman's growing influence in the global exhibitions, conferences, and business events industry.
According to Oman News Agency, Eng. Said bin Salim Al Shanfari, CEO of Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, will assume the duties and mandates of President of the UFI starting November 2026. Al Shanfari is set to officially take over as President during the UFI's 94th World Congress in Guadalajara, Mexico, in November 2027. This appointment will make him the first Omani and the first Arab to hold this prestigious position since the UFI Association's establishment over a century ago.
The election of the CEO of Oman Convention and Exhibition Center is seen as a significant step in strengthening the presence of the Middle East and Africa Region in the decision-making processes of the global exhibition industry.
