Oman Commemorates World Maritime Day with Ceremony in A’Seeb

Muscat: Represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the Sultanate of Oman today marked World Maritime Day. A ceremony on this occasion was held in the Wilayat of A'Seeb. The event underscores the vital role of seafarers in supporting global trade and ensuring the regular functioning of supply chains. It also highlights the status of maritime transport as a cornerstone of sustainable economic development.

According to Oman News Agency, the ceremony was held under the auspices of Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said Al Busaidi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism. Eng. Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shammakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Transport, said that this year's event underlined the basic role of seafarers and maritime workers in transporting global trade and ensuring the sustainability of supply chains despite challenges and risks involved.

Al Shammakhi pointed out that the observation of the World Maritime Day embodies appreciation of the role of seafarers' contribution to the global economy.
