Oman-Belarus Joint Committee for Cooperation and Investment Discusses Economic, Investment Partnerships

Oman: Oman-Belarus Joint Committee for Cooperation and Investment, established in May 2025, held its first meeting in Muscat today. The meeting discussed ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus.

According to Oman News Agency, the Omani side was headed by Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority (OIA), and Maxim Ryzhenkov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. The meeting reflected the two countries' keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation and open up prospects for partnership in various fields, notably in the sectors of industry, agriculture, health, and tourism. It also explored means of developing commercial exchange, facilitating the flow of investments, and supporting economic diversification.

Al Murshidi stated that the first meeting embodies the approach of economic diplomacy espoused by the two countries' leaderships. He pointed out that the committee constitutes an institutional platform for developing partnerships and building long-term relations based on mutual interests. He added that Oman lays emphasis on boosting international partnerships and attracting quality investments. He noted that cooperation with the Republic of Belarus will open up prospects for achieving economic diversification.

Maxim Ryzhenkov highlighted that the two countries possess potential for enhancing cooperation, given Belarus's industrial capabilities and Oman's investment environment and infrastructure. He pointed out that bilateral relations will get further impetus from the facilitation of traffic and direct flights, the streamlining of visa procedures, and the completion of diplomatic representation.

The Oman-Belarus Joint Committee for Cooperation and Investment was established as a strategic step forward to enhance cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, education, culture, and energy, with a focus on developing joint investment projects and exchanging expertise.
