Oman and UK Explore Strategic Partnership Enhancement Across Political and Economic Spheres

London: The Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing their strategic partnership across political, economic, developmental, and investment fields. The dialogue focused on strengthening the bilateral friendship and cooperation between the two nations.

According to Oman News Agency, the meeting was held in London between Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman's Foreign Minister, and Yvette Cooper, the UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs. They reviewed the outcomes of the Strategic Dialogue Team and the Joint Working Group and aimed to accomplish previously agreed programs and work tracks to serve common interests and expand bilateral cooperation.

The meeting also covered regional issues, where both parties exchanged viewpoints on developments in Yemen, Sudan, and Iran. The ministers underscored the need to support efforts for sustaining truth in Yemen and promoting comprehensive political dialogue to ensure the country's unity and territorial integrity.

Discussions included the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the necessity to enhance humanitarian efforts to alleviate the population's suffering, promote a permanent ceasefire, and support reconstruction efforts. The talks also focused on reviving the peace process in alignment with the two-state solution, aiming for an independent Palestinian state.

On the Iranian nuclear issue, the ministers stressed the importance of reviving diplomatic efforts and resuming negotiations to reduce regional tensions, enhance security, and avoid escalation and conflicts.

Regarding Sudan, the ministers addressed the dire humanitarian situation, emphasizing the need for a cessation of hostilities and a truce to enable UN relief agencies to perform humanitarian tasks and pave the way for political consensus among conflicting parties.
