Muscat: Acting in cooperation with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Muscat, the Foreign Ministry today organized an event to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation. Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, delivered a speech emphasizing the steady growth in relations since the signing of the Document on Establishing Diplomatic Relations in 1985.
According to Oman News Agency, Al Harthy also highlighted the State Visit made by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Russian Federation in April 2025. The visit resulted in the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding that established a partnership based on shared interests and mutual trust.
Oleg Vladimirovich Levin, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Sultanate of Oman, acknowledged the importance of His Majesty the Sultan’s visit to Moscow and his discussions with President Vladimir Putin. He noted that the visit marked a milestone in bilateral cooperation, reflecting the mutual interest in developing cooperation to serve common interests and enhance security and stability.
The celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations demonstrates the commitment of both countries to continue joint cooperation efforts, contributing to security and stability regionally and globally.
