Oman and Iraq Explore Boosting Cooperation in Academic and Research Fields

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Iraq today discussed ways of enhancing cooperation in academic fields. They also explored opportunities for exchanging expertise in the fields of higher education, research, and innovation, as part of efforts to further develop bilateral relations.

According to Oman News Agency, the discussion took place when Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, received at her office Prof. Alia Abbas Ali Al-Attar, President of the Northern Technical University in the Republic of Iraq.

The two sides discussed prospects for enhancing cooperation in the field of twinning higher education institutions in both countries, activating joint training programs, and benefiting from the expertise of Iraqi residents in evaluating academic programs at higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman. The drive seeks to upgrade the quality of education and keep pace with academic accreditation standards.

The two sides also explored scopes for expanding cooperation in the fields of incubators, innovation centers, and technology transfer. It also looked into the possibility of organizing joint events to enhance academic and research communication.
