Oil Inches Up as Middle East Tensions Loom Over Fragile Truce

Muscat: Oil prices edged higher in early trading today after Iran and Israel left open the possibility of renewed attacks, despite having halted combat operations in response to an appeal from US President Donald Trump. Brent crude futures rose 13 cents, or 0.14 percent, to $94.38 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude futures gained 11 cents, or 0.12 percent, to $91.41 per barrel.

According to Oman News Agency, prices had climbed as much as five percent in the previous session after renewed Israeli strikes on Iran and attacks in Lebanon dampened hopes for a swift end to the wider war. However, they pared gains after Iran announced an end to military operations against Israel.
