Muscat: Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) today organized a workshop focused on enhancing competitiveness in the transport and logistics sector. The workshop was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
According to Oman News Agency, the workshop aimed to highlight the efforts of the Sultanate of Oman in developing the infrastructure of the transport and logistics sector, explore investment opportunities, and outline the role of public-private sector partnerships in developing the transport and logistics sector. It also discussed mechanisms to upgrade the Sultanate of Oman's ranking in international indices related to this sector.
The workshop took place at OCCI headquarters in Muscat under the auspices of Eng. Khamis bin Mohammed Al Shammakhi, Transport Undersecretary at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Al Shammakhi stated that the transport and logistics sector constitutes one of the main enablers of economic development. He emphasized that the transport and logistics sector serves as a key driver for various productive sectors and service sectors due to its role in facilitating trade and investment, linking markets, and enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy.
Visual presentations at the workshop defined the salient features of the transport and logistics sector and elaborated on major achievements and strategic initiatives made by the Sultanate of Oman to consolidate its position as a global logistics hub. The presentations underlined rapid developments in the logistics system, the establishment of Oman Logistics Center, and the launch of national programs specialized in transport and logistics. The presentations also showcased promising investment opportunities in the sector of transport and logistics.
