North A’Sharqiyah Council Highlights Urban Planning and Public Service Initiatives

Muscat: The Municipal Council of North A'Sharqiyah Governorate today convened its 6th meeting of 2026, focusing on public service and development projects while discussing strategies to align with the comprehensive development goals set forth by Oman Vision 2040. The meeting was presided over by Mahmoud bin Yahya Al Dhuhli, the Governor of North A'Sharqiyah and Chairman of the Municipal Council.

According to Oman News Agency, the council approved the minutes from its previous meeting and reviewed the annual plan of the Ministry of Social Development. This plan includes programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing social protection systems and empowering families within the governorate.

The meeting also stressed the importance of developing current residential plans and tackling technical challenges in certain neighborhoods. Participants proposed that names for new residential areas be inspired by Omani heritage to strengthen national identity and highlight cultural aspects in urban planning.
