Muscat: The National Survey and Geospatial Information Authority has published a book titled "Sultanate of Oman: Geographical Facts and Figures," which is part of the scientific and documentary publications issued by the Authority. According to Oman News Agency, the National Survey and Geospatial Information Authority at the Ministry of Defence aims to explore geographical facts and figures regarding the unique geographical features of the Sultanate of Oman. This exploration is conducted using a scientific methodology based on measurement and spatial analysis within a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) environment. The derived geospatial information is then represented and displayed through the maps and charts included in the book. The book provides essential geographical facts and figures that underscore the significance of the Sultanate of Oman. It highlights the nation's area and geographical location, defining the country's spatial framework and detailing its international land and maritime borders. A dditionally, it outlines the administrative division of the governorates. Furthermore, the book examines the prominent geological features of the Sultanate of Oman, showcasing the diverse terrain and landforms that characterize the Omani territory. It also highlights natural reserves and analyzes the role of transport and communications in connecting the regions of the country, alongside demographic information related to the population.
