National Defense College Hosts Symposium on Youth’s Role in Decision-Making

Muscat: The National Defense College has commenced a four-day symposium focused on the pivotal role of youth in national decision-making. The event, inaugurated today at the Academy of Strategic and Defense Studies, is being held under the auspices of Rear Admiral Saif Nasser Al Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman.

According to Oman News Agency, the symposium, which will conclude on 12 February 2026, is part of the curriculum for the National Defense College's 13th session. It features participation from representatives of various government departments and covers important themes such as youth participation in decision-making, fostering citizenship and belonging, and promoting innovation alongside sustainable digital empowerment.

The symposium is designed to highlight the importance of youth in shaping national initiatives and integrating their visions into the national decision-making process. It addresses the need to strengthen values of belonging and active citizenship by involving youth in strategic national issues.

Moreover, the symposium focuses on ensuring the sustainability of national decisions and policies by incorporating youth perspectives in the design of future policies. This approach aims to align with the aspirations of future generations.
