National Campaign to Raise Awareness About Climate Risks to Launch in Muscat

Muscat: The 4th edition of the ‘National Campaign to Raise Awareness About the Risks of Climatic Conditions and Tsunami Waves’ is set to commence in the Governorate of Muscat tomorrow, on December 9, 2025.

According to Oman News Agency, the three-day event is organized by the National Emergency Management Centre, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Ministry of Information, and the Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority. This initiative is in collaboration with Muscat Governorate and the Ministry of Education, signifying a multi-organizational effort to promote public safety and preparedness.

The primary objective of the campaign is to enhance public knowledge about the Multi-Hazard Early Warning System. It seeks to provide comprehensive guidance on the appropriate measures to undertake during emergency situations. This initiative is integral in reinforcing community preparedness and improving individual response capabilities during disasters.

Participants of the campaign will include representatives from government departments, private sector establishments, civil society institutions, and charity teams. These participants will engage in various meetings, symposiums, and practical exercises designed to boost their emergency handling skills. Additionally, Muscat Governorate will distribute awareness bulletins and organize an exhibition showcasing public awareness materials.

The campaign underscores the importance of fostering a culture of public awareness and rapid response to emergencies, with the ultimate goal of saving lives and mitigating material losses. The activities aim to cover coastal governorates initially and will subsequently expand to include other regions.
