Muscat Alzheimer’s Forum Recommends Establishing Specialized National Centre

Muscat: The Muscat Alzheimer’s Forum, held today, emphasized the need for drafting a national Alzheimer’s guide, creating science-based diagnostic protocols, and setting up a specialized national centre for the treatment of Alzheimer’s patients.

According to Oman News Agency, the forum was organized by the Higher Institute of Health Specialties in partnership with the Oman Geriatric Society. It brought together specialists in Alzheimer’s disease, healthcare, nutrition, and medical research.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Ahmed Salim Al Mandhari, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Planning and Regulation. Al Mandhari highlighted the forum’s objective to develop an integrated system that combines efforts from both government and private sector specialists.

Dr. Salha Ali Al Jadidi, Chairperson of Oman Geriatric Society and head of the Forum’s Organizing Committee, noted that the forum represents a national collaboration between educational and social institutions. The discussions at the forum centered on early signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, evidence-based treatment strategies, and updates on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention methods.
