Muscat: Statistical data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that 81,630 new Omani identity cards were issued during 2025. Of these, a total of 42,354 identity cards were issued for males and 39,276 were issued for females. According to Oman News Agency, North Al Batinah Governorate topped the list of governorates in terms of number of new personal identity cards issued (a total of 18,597 cards), followed by Muscat Governorate (14,726 cards), A'Dakhiliyah Governorate (10,661 cards), and Al Wusta Governorate (547 cards). In terms of monthly distribution, the month of August saw the issuance of the highest number of new personal cards (12,570 cards), followed by July (12,435 cards) and March (2,287 cards). As many as 290,918 new and renewed Omani passports were processed during 2025. Muscat Governorate saw the largest number of passports processed (a total of 76,484 passports), followed by North Al Batinah Governorate (56,111 passports), A'Dakhiliyah Governorate (33,616 passports), and Al Wusta Governorate (1,797 passports). Data points to a steady decline in the number of passports issued over the past three years. The total number of passports in 2023 stood at 431,211. The number went down to 310,913 in 2024 and dropped to 290,918 in 2025. The number of marriage contracts registered at offices of the Notary Public rose to 23,117 during the year 2025, compared to 17,896 contracts in 2024 and 14,716 contracts in 2023. The number of divorce documents also increased to 4,208 during 2025, compared to 4,122 documents in 2024 and 3,828 documents in 2023. Muscat topped the list of governorates in terms of the number of marriage contracts registered during 2025, as it saw a total of 6,651 new marriage contracts, followed by North Al Batinah Governorate (3,753 contracts), South Al Batinah Governorate (2,683 contracts), Dhofar Governorate (2,462 contracts), and A'Dakhiliyah Governorate (2,425 contracts). Muscat Governorate also registered the highest number of divorce documents issued during 2025 (a total of 1,220 documents), followed by Dhofar Governorate (716 documents) and North Al Batinah Governorate (705 documents).
